Took my Galaxy in the have the alloys refurbished. Got the car back and the wheels are ok but then noticed the sills. It had been jacked up on both sills causing the flange to bend.

He denied causing the damage stating they were already bent. After telling him I'll see him in court he said he didn't want any ill feeling and would repair them.

When are these garages going to learn not to jack Galaxys up on the sills or any other car for that matter.

Rant over..........................

On that note I have a confession to make...... having been trained on Fords which for the most part you can jack on the sills, the

first non Ford I worked on and jacked up (a mate's Mk2 Golf), what did I do?! I bent the sills.... I learned my lesson after that,

and at least the guys in the garage I worked for showed me how to jack up a Galaxy properly! Thesedays I tend to look for jacking

points on a vehicle before going for the sills!

if he didnt do it then why has he said he will repair them so quickly once you threathened him with the legal route?.

he knew what he done and was hoping you wouldnt notice.

The number of Galaxys out there with crushed sills is shocking really, I've looked at a lot of potential purchases to replace my old one and the majority now have some degree of sill damage.

I reckon the only reason my sills have survived is that the only people that jack mine up are me and the bloke who does my MOTs. I want another Galaxy/Sharan, but I'm gonna limp this one on for another year or two, whilst I look for a decent replacement.

After looking closer the offside sill seems to have a piece missing. Not sure if sills can be replaced on the Galaxy. I'm well fed up with it at the moment and just feel like scrapping it.

My mechanic has had a look. On the offside the flange of the sill has been squashed and pushed up into the sill. Will need to be cut out and a plate flush welded in, undersealed and re-sprayed. The nearside looks like it can be straighten, undersealed and re-sprayed.

I think it's amazing just how much abuse those cills seem to take. Mine had been straightened out at least 4 times and still survived. My son has had it for 18 months now and his garages seem a bit more enlightened although I did make him well aware of the problem and he probably gives the mechanics a good finger wagging before he allows them to start.
